Skyrail

Rainforestation

Rainforestation Nature Park, Kuranda is a 40 hectare tourist attraction in the midst of World Heritage rainforest. Rainforestation is five minutes from the Kuranda Village. Rainforestation has three exciting attractions including; Army Duck Tropical Rainforest Tour and Tropical Fruit Orchard Tour, Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience and Koala and Wildlife Park.



Tjapukai

Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park is the most awarded Aboriginal cultural attraction in Australiaand is credited with enhancing reconciliation locally, nationally and internationally. Tjapukai showcases the culture of the rainforest people of Tropical North Queensland. 



Koala Gardens

A boutique wildlife attraction situated in Kuranda Heritage Markets. See koalas and take the opportunity to ‘Cuddle a Koala’ (extra cost applies includes digital photo). Visit the walk through “Reptile House”; meet wallabies, wombats, crocodiles and more.



Birdworld

Join the birds in their beautiful world as you immerse yourself in their rainforest habitat. Free flying around you are species from the vanishing rainforests of the world, including some of Australia’s most precious and beautiful birds.



Butterfly Sanctuary

The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary's 3666 cubic metre aviary is home to over 1500 magnificent tropical butterflies, all local to the area, including the electric blue Ulysses butterfly and the largest butterfly in Australia, the Cairns or Australian Birdwing. 



Aboriginal Walking Tours

For millennia, the Djabugay people have lived in the mountainous rainforest environment around Kuranda, passing knowledge down through the generations.

Now, the Djabugay people have established Djabugay Country Tours, to share with you the secrets of life in the rainforest. No-one is better qualified to provide you with an authentic Kuranda experience and a welcome to Djabugay country – nganydjin bulmba.

With your local Aboriginal guides, discover the human uses of the rainforest, and gain insights into Djabugay culture and the history of Kuranda. The 90 minute tour features a semi-canopy rainforest boardwalk, a bush trail to the giant Golden Pendas trees, and a light lunch or morning tea at the historic Kuranda railway station.



Barron Gorge National Park

Rugged mountain scenery, steep ravines, tumbling waterfalls, rich wildlife and tropical rainforest make Barron Gorge one of Queensland’s most popular and picturesque parks. The park has the most accessible rainforest close to Cairns. Open woodland, grassland and heath also grow in the park.



Kuranda Visitor Information Centre

The Kuranda Visitor Information Centre is an accredited centre, offering a wealth of local and regional knowledge. Its volunteers are able to advise and help you plan your time in the village and assist in booking tours in the region.
