In June 1891 the first trains traversed the Barron Gorge on the famous Cairns-Kuranda rail line. Since then millions of people have enjoyed the magnificent scenery, majestic waterfalls and spectacular World Heritage rainforest encountered during a journey on the renowned Kuranda Scenic Railway. However, until now, they have only been able to experience this in the one class of travel. Almost exactly one hundred and fifteen years on, a new and exclusive class of travel will be born - KSR Gold Class. From the 1st of June, 2006, for the very first time on a daily basis, a superior style of train travel will be available to and from Kuranda. KSR Gold Class will be a special rail journey for the discerning traveller desiring a more luxurious, personalised touring experience. Sipping sparkling wine or a cold beer and savouring delicious finger foods whilst taking in the breathtaking wonders of the Barron Gorge National Park will add a totally new and very memorable dimension to the world famous Kuranda Scenic Railway tour. North Queensland Manager Gary Young said, "The distinctive Heritage Green carriages with their brass insignias and the plush Victorian-inspired interior décor that is highlighted by a Queensland timber finish, blend to form fine surroundings for the journey." Whilst absorbing the spectacular scenery and immersing themselves in the inspiring historical story of the railway via the enhanced audio-visual commentary program, travellers will enjoy refreshments served to their individual seat by a dedicated Gold Class Carriage Attendant. Chilled refresher towels and a wonderful complimentary souvenir pack complete the splendid KSR Gold Class experience. KSR Gold Class will take the icon Kuranda Scenic Railway journey to a whole new level. "Now everyone can take home a little gold from their Kuranda day tour," said Mr Young. Download the article. |
